Photographer's Note
Trying to find new areas for my almost daily walks on Södermalm I happened one day a month ago to arrive in a part of the island I seldom visit. I was surprised to find a floating restaurant where the guests could choose to have their meals inside transparent igloos.
The restaurant boat has been moored here for several years, but the attached pontoons with igloos are probably relatively new.
I thought the igloos were odd enough to require a couple of photos. A different view can be seen in the WS.
This is on the southern side of Södermalm. On both sides of the water (a narrow bay of the Baltic Sea) a new mainly residential area for about 25,000 inhabitants has been developed since the early 1990's. It is called Hammarby sjöstad (Hammarby Lake City). You can see a small glimpse of it in the background of this photo, a bit more in the WS.
The white buildings with the tall tower is a thermal power station. The building with the glass façade contains rented offices.
Several years ago I posted a couple of photos taken from across the water looking towards Södermalm. This was one of them:

The Map: view will show you where the floating restaurant is located.
And don't forget the WS!

Hi Gert, Indeed, strange coincidence. Of course, I recognize the Thai boat in the Workshop picture. I have found the place where it is moored in Google. But from the photos there I couldn't guess what these balls were. It is for me the most interesting picture of yours in recent times. Although no red houses or fences, there are many nice elements in white here, like the high tower, strange vessel, white closed umbrellas, beautiful reflections in water and in the glass. Have you been inside such an igloo? And how funny that one can also swim there. But who is prepared for it? (I mean swimsuit).
Best regards MAlgo

Hi Gert,
An interesting view, improved by the blue sky and bright sunlight. Maybe the glass spheres are a Covid management strategy. Their curves make a nice contrast to the angular shapes in the background.

Hi Gert,
THe towe and the two parasols have a graphical effect. The point of view is showing the details of the igloos and of the buildings in the background. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a day.

Hello Gert,
Interesting idea for cold/windy days, placing the restaurant visitors inside a transparent igloo's.
First captured the sight - than looking at the surrounding, there are many objects included and a nice reflection in the foreground water.
Good afternoon,

Hi Gert, the idea is really brilliant, it must certainly be a good experience, hoping that the food is at the level of the location, but in my experience you eat better in ugly and hidden places .. ahaha .. I don't understand if the igloos are air-conditioned, otherwise it would be hot on sunny days and impossible to use in winter. Two beautiful photos that are really something special and interesting. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Gert,
The room with a glass facade on top of the narrow tower must be a great viewpoint.
I like the igloos also. They're very beautiful.
Would these igloos also be open in winter? Then it becomes real igloos.
Colourful reflections in the windows of the buildings and beautiful distorted reflections in the water in the foreground.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Gert,
This is characteristic of people, they always want something new or something different.
Lucky for you, you had the chance to take a nice picture of the globe
Lovely picture.
You create a fine image, with glass building in background.
Very well done, TFS.

Hej Gert,

gert
it is difficult to choose what is the best of these two photos. curious structures, I presume these acrylic panels will be spoiled in few months, but they are nice to prevent cold winds and lower temperatures. here in my town, even in a very cold day it would be an oven fast.
take care

Hello Gert,
We've had similar igloos here in NYC since last year. When indoor dining was prohibited, all kinds of outdoor structures started popping up. I've seen ones like these in Rockefeller Center and Bryant Park. This is a wonderful scene on a perfectly sunny day. I like the sun shining off the larger igloo, and the modern building in the background. Take care!

Dear Gert,
This photo offers so much details that I couldn't get enough. I don't want to live there, on the other hand I like the idea of having a lunch there. :)
Best Wishes,
Gy.
PS: Thank you for faving my latest photo. :)

Hello Gert,
Those igloos were the solution of some restaurants during the pandemic - they could offer outside seating heated by the greenhouse effect of the igloo. I like the reflections on the water, too.

Hi Gert
This photo makes me think of those touristy clear dome type things that you would shake to make it snow.
A good photo and great distorted reflections.

Hello Gert,
These igloos look like something we would have encountered in science fiction novels or films, in the 1050's! They look such fun and are placed with excellent compositional skills, in your photograph, as well as with fine clarity.
I like how the girded, white parasols make a very natural trio with the tall, white tower.
The w/s could easily have been a main post, showing a very different composition.
Igloos, like this, have been established in the UK. I suppose the nearest one to me are in York or Harrogate but I haven't seen them personally.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hej Gert
These transparent, plastic geodesic domes do indeed resemble igloos although the outside terrain is a little less inhospitable than Greenland or Baffin Island, being devoid of snow and ice, at least for the moment. The bg tower has an observation deck. Is it open to the public? Tfs!

Hej Gert,
Quite strange place on a pier. The closer igloo is quite big. I like reflection of the sun on the right side. There will be some igloos in the Christmas market of Tampere to offer a little warmer place to have a drink in a covid safe place with your own group.

Hi Gert.
Two magnificent compositions, which give us a very clear idea of the atmosphere of this modern neighborhood, these glass igloos are undoubtedly a novelty to attract customers, I do not know if I would feel comfortable, like a bird in its cage, it is a beautiful image with the contrast of the buildings in the background and the high tower.
Both the color and the brightness of the photo are magnificent, highlighting the beauty and sharpness of the composition.
Very well done. I like it
Have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Gert, two fascinating pictures of this unusual restaurant.
The tower in the background echoes the white covered shapes near the transparent domes. Then you have the bonus of the distorted reflections.
I can imagine that it must get quite hot inside the domes, particularly on a sunny day as we see here.
Excellent sharp shots with very good management of the bright sunlight.
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Gert
I've seen photos of igloos in London South Bank. But I think they were there during Christmas/New Year period only. It's interesting to see them on a sunny, blue sky day in Stockholm with people coming out to cool down.
Amusing note in WS. :-)
Best wishes
Kasia
