Photographer's Note

I have no idea what this statue represents, its name, or the sculptor. A search in Google kept bringing up the little mermaid in Copenhagen, or vague references to 'statue, Gamlastan waterfront'. So I shall call it Beauty and the Beast. I have loaded a nocturnal shot as a workshop because I arrived back by ferry from Skansen at night. That was taken with flash.

EDIT: and a BIG thanks to Gert:

"The statue is called Sjöguden (Sea god) and was made by famous sculptor Carl Milles (1875-1955) in 1913. It has been in this place since 1930. The sea god is seen holding a mermaid on his lap. Milles is mainly famous for large projects, such as several fountains in Stockholm, Göteborg and other cities. His home on the island of Lidingö is now one of the most popular museums in the Stockholm area. The Art Nouveau building in the background housing the locally legendary German "Bierstube" Zum Franziskaner was built in 1910."
