Photographer's Note

Sledge dogs, waiting to depart (I guess) to the Kebnekaise, the highest mountain of Sweden.

The Swedish prefer red when it comes to painting their houses, huts, stables and other buildings, but in a lighter one than on these huts.

In the summer, I was always wondering why they do that, but when being there in the winter, it became obvious to me that this color is probably the best one to make the buildings stick out of the surrounding whiteness of snow. Imagine heavy snowfall, maybe accompanied by strong wind at -30C, and the low visibility resulting thereof: You want to be able to find your house then.

But thatīs only my idea, maybe they just like the color --- Iīll have to ask next time. Hm, there are probably Swedish users here; it would be nice if you could add a comment to that :)
