The Engine
Art-Impression or Educative Model – That’s the question
An engine is a mechanical device that produces some form of output from a given input. Sometimes it's called motor as in motorvehicle.
An engine whose purpose is to produce kinetic energy output from a fuel source is called a prime mover; alternatively, a motor is a device which produces kinetic energy from a preprocessed "fuel" (such as electricity, a flow of hydraulic fluid or compressed air).

Hi Rob,
Fascinating shot. It is easy to understand that what caught your attention was not only the engine itself but also its artwork appearance. And guess it could very well have been artwork placed in another museum. A real dual use subject. TFS!
Cheers,
Ulf

Hi Rob,
Ik kan het me eerlijk gezegd helemaal niet herinneren uit dit museum, 't is ook alweer bijna twee jaar geleden. Desalniettemin een mooie foto van deze motor met nog een aantal aantrekklijke kleuren ook.
Groeten,
Lars

I have always liked these old "cut outs" of machines, especially when like here they are adorned with bright colors on the cut surface. In a way, it was a first try to convert mechanical devices into pieces of art. But there is something I like even better: the old drawings of cut out machinery, in vogue at the end of the 19th century and in the 20th (before the coming of the 3D computer drawing softwares...).
All the best,
Emmanuel

Hallo Rob,
superb angle and excellent detail. I like those presentations of details from machines, here in a great mixture of colour, looks more like art than a technical background, just as you wrote.

Hallo Rob,
Bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John.

Thanks for the compliment, made my photo similar to Claude Monet paintings... Just my humor, Rob.
I was always intrigued to know how engine working, every engines from cars to motorcycles , jets and propellers, and many others.
Excellent painted this educational detail, and very well taken its photo.
Light, contrast and sharpness are immaculate.
Good afternoon,
Ike
