Photographer's Note

If there is something about the city of Caceres that attracts the attention it is that it holds a rich heritage of monuments from all ages (from the Romans to the 19th century), perfectly preserved. Caceres has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage program in 1986.

The city of Caceres is a real museum in itself. It has remains from all ages of its history, very well preserved.

From its origins, with the founding of Norba Caesarina in 34 BC, through Muslim Al-Cazires, the conquest of Alfonso IX, the foundation of the Order of Santiago, or the period of the Conquest of America, Caceres enjoys a rich artistic and monumental heritage.

Outstanding among its most symbolic buildings is the Procathedral church of Santa María la Mayor (12th to 16th C) that you can discover on this picture.

Other famous monuments are the church of the Society of Jesus ( 18th C), church of San Juan Bautista (13th to 18th C), church of San Mateo (15th to 18th C), church of Santiago (16th C), the Plaza Mayor, the Plaza de San Mateo, and many others.
