Castro Urdiales under the Cantabrian summer sky

Just as in neighboring Asturias the skies in Cantabria in July were often gloomy and threatening. It did not rain but many days were dark and rarely had the light that often can be found in southern Europe.

Castro Urdiales is a seaport in Cantabria.
It’s primarily known for the Gothic church of Santa María, the castle-lighthouse (both buildings are visible on the picture), the medieval town center with many characteristic houses and also for its beaches (not crowded; it’s not the Mediterranean!).
