Photographer's Note

Not the most original picture you could take in Madrid, but worthwile and in the spirit of Trekeart:

A well known site in Madrid is the Metropolis building on the corner of Calle Alcala and Via Gran.

Dating from the beginning of the 20th. century, the Metrópolis Building is french, romanesque style, which was not common at the time.
The columns support 4 statues representing Mining, Agriculture, Industry and Commerce, made by Saint Marceaux and L. Lambert.

The rounded tower is covered with 30000 leaves of 24 Carat gold.
