Photographer's Note

I know, by my own birth place experience, where is a sense of conservatism, politically talking, there is as well a great sense of free spirit in the air. Valencia meets those requirements. A real artistic movement take place in the city of Valencia, in the streets of Valencia to be exact, not inside the museums. I saw free theatres (like "Carme teatre"), many samples of quality design in retailers and masters' graffities and ideas on the walls of the most beautiful traditional but deteriorated neighbourhoods of the city. Neighbours from the antique "Barri del Carme" are up in their legitimate fight to get their district back. Authorities let this kind of districts literally die to get some real-state profit at the end. In the Malvarrosa vicinity neighbours were protesting against speculators as well. These areas are the real fascinating soul of Valencia city. If there was any empathy among our governmental representatives, any sense of a city as a inhabited place, they could understand that a city is built by its people not by the corrupt urbanism city councillor.
