Hello friends and colleagues, today I propose this view of the river Nervión as it passes through the center of the beautiful city of Bilbao. I hope you like it, then some letters about the city.

Bilbao (in Euskera Bilbo) is a municipality located in the north of Spain and a town of said municipality, capital of the province and historical territory of Vizcaya, in the autonomous community of the Basque Country. The town of Bilbao is the most populated capital of the autonomous community, being the head of the metropolitan area of Bilbao, one with an urbation that extends along the estuary of Bilbao or the Nervión.

The urban nucleus is surrounded by two mountainous chains with an average altitude that does not exceed 400 meters, these chains form some of the natural limits of the municipality. The main bordering municipalities are Sondica, Zamudio, Basauri, Baracaldo, Galdácano and Arrigorriaga.

Since its foundation, at the end of the 13th century, it was a commercial enclave that enjoyed particular importance in the Cantabrian cornice thanks to the privileges granted by the Crown of Castile that allowed the development of a great port activity that was based mainly on export of the wool coming from Castile and to a lesser extent from the iron extracted from the Vizcaya quarries. Throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries experienced a strong industrialization that became the epicenter of the second industrialized region of Spain, behind Barcelona.14 15 This was accompanied by an extraordinary demographic and urban explosion that caused the annexation of several adjoining municipalities. Currently, it is a thriving city of services, which is in a process of aesthetic, social and economic revitalization led by the symbolic Guggenheim Museum Bilbao.

On May 19, 2010, the city of Bilbao was recognized with the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize, awarded by the city of Singapore, in collaboration with the Swedish Nobel Academy. Considered the Nobel Prize for urbanism, it was handed out on June 29, 2010. On January 7, 2013, its mayor, Iñaki Azkuna, received the 2012 World Mayor Prize awarded every two years by the British foundation The City Mayors Foundation. , in recognition of the urban transformation experienced by the Biscayan capital since the 1990s. On November 8, 2017, Bilbao was chosen the Best European City 2018 in the The Urbanism Awards 2018, awarded by the international organization The Academy of Urbanism.

It was such a beautiful day, clear and sunny. The town looks great and the calm water in the foreground leads the eye nicely towards the houses. The colours are great and very vivid.

J'ai connu enfant Bilbao enfant (ma mère avait des amies de pensionnat en Angleterre) et avons passé plusieurs jours.
Inutile de vous dire que les souvenirs se sont effacés depuis.
Je prends donc plaisir à voir la ville sous un aspect fort agréable sous un beau d'un bleu pur.

Hello Angel,
This is very different from the Guggenheim Museum, which is the most commonly shown building in Bilbao in recent years. However, it's a nice view of the modern part of the city on both sides of the river. The photo is nicely taken.
But I repeat what I have said before: There is no connection at all between the Lee Kuan Yew prize and any "Swedish Nobel Academy" (there is no such academy). It is a misunderstanding.

lots of open sky in your shot, that means only one thing...its YOUR Photo :) hehe. Its great when we can recognize our friends photo styles :) the strong wide open blues give such a contrast to the orange/red buildings and the greens. even the water looks green because of the reflections :) nice one

This is a most attractive view of Bilbao.
You have used the river very effectIvey, both to capture the reflections and to act as a guide.
I like how the opposing banks meet at a strong point, for good composition.

Hola Angel Il s'agit d'une prise photo très agréable à cause de l'ambiance calmante qui y est incorporée, élaborée par la verdure derrière, droite et aussi par l'eau du canal. Angel, el río Nervión pasa por el centro de Bilbao. Esta rodeado de barrios residenciales. Los andenes han sido acondicionados para los paseantes. Estan bien iluminados por la noche. En segundo plano se ven las colinas verdes del Pais Vasco. Buen punto de vista. Perfecta calidad de imagen

Magnifica foto de Bilbao teniendo como punto de atraccion la ria, que lleva nuestra atencion hacia los edificios del fondo y el verde cerco de montañas que los ciñe. Hermoso dia.

Both side's walkway along the river gave good sense of depth to the beautiful town picture.
The green forest up the hills far beyond, had given sort of "frame" to the scene.
