Photographer's Note

Wroclaw in Poland and San Sebastian in Spain are the European Capitals of Culture in 2016, on this occasion I want to post a few pictures of this beautiful city.
I visited San Sebastian in 2015 and was impressed with charm and atmosphere.

San Sebastian is a coastal city in northern Spain, the capital of the Spanish province of Gipuzkoa in the Basque Country. It lies on the coast of the Bay of Biscay, 20 km from the French border. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations in Spain. The population of San Sebastian is 186,000.

In the photo you can see the Constitution Square (Plaza de la Constitucion), the centre of the Old Town. This is the main square in the city, where big parties and celebrations take place, for instance, the flag hoisting festivity on the 20th of January to start 24 hours of non-stop drumming, the Tamborrada Festival.
The Constitution Square was constructed in the year 1817 after a big fire in 1813. The square was used as a bullring and this is the reason why all windows have numbers, these numbers still mark the bullring boxes that the houses formerly used to be. Nowadays, shops as well as some terraced bars may be found in the square, a nice place to calmly enjoy a glass of wine.
