Old street in Tarragona, a photo from Tarragona, Catalonia

Photographer's Note

This is one of the narrow streets I mentioned in the note of my post of the cathedral of Tarragona.

I have some dozens of shots of the façade on the left, with quite interesting drawings on the wall made with relieves of the grout rather than just painting, aimed at producing a panorama that I wasn't able to stitch. I have still a little hope that I can do it one of these days.

On the bottom of the street is the square of the cathedral.

Hi Jose,

Love the bend in the street, that part gives so much depth and gives it really a huge 3D feeling. Also the light control is excellent, those brown walls look very natural, just lake the textures on the street.
I think you pushed the blue sky but i like that, it's almost a must-do in such an image and it gives very good contrast. There are however some jagged lines in the image. along the rooftop and look at that wire, it's very pixelated. Probably caused by resizing and sharpening.
Anyway, the street and view it self are very beautiful....

A very difficult subject for take, you did very nice here.
You play excellent with light and shadows.
The narrow street leads us excellent to the background through the old part of the city.

Bonjour Jose ,
la perspective sur cette ruelle est absolument parfaite . J'aime aussi comment la lumière a été capturée avec subtilité , avec un bel équilibre ebtre zones d'ombre et zones éclairées .
Et le fil ne me gêne pas , même si la ville serait plus jolie sans eux .

An attractive shot of a narrow street in Tarragona. The first thing which catches my eye is the very good control of light in a high contrast situation. A good POV, perspective and depth. Good vertical composition with plenty of details to view. Good nicely saturated colours. TFS!

Usando um lugar-comum, esta foto é ouro sobre azul. Gosto muito desses tons castanho-dourados, com esse rasgo de céu azul. Só é pena a rua estar tão deserta.

Has conseguido una magnifica foto de esta preciosa calle de Tarragona, a veces es difícil conseguir buena iluminacion por las sombras que se presentan pero tu has hecho un gran trabajo, esta estupenda.
Veo que estas entrando menos a TE, así esta pasando con muchos de los amigos, no se que va a pasar.

É uma imagem linda com uma exposição excelente, um céu maravilhoso e uma curva muito dinâmica. Só aquele cabo a atravessar o céu é que ficou mesmo mal.

When I 1st open this view, I started to ask if this a stitched job and reading your note, I see that you will do one for the facade. It will be a task doing such a stitch because I imagine you would have to walk along to shoot the overlapped photos in this kind of narrow street.

Very interesting challenge just to think of it.

This is a great vertical format view of the narrow lane and using the UWA angle, it would be surely distortion which I guess you did very well with some corrections to minimize it here?. Looks great to see the details.

I have done some shots meant for stitch jobs but obviously I made silly mistakes on the lack of overlapping space enough to stitch the features. Manual work perhaps but it would be a lot of effort for later try.

Ces rues étroites avec des bâtiments hauts ont généralement des conditions de lumière difficiles surtout avec une forte luminosité comme ici et tu t'en est bien sorti ici. J'apprécia beaucoup la qualité de l'image et sa netteté. L'absence de personnages ajoute une certaine atmosphère au lieu. Joli et intéressant coup d'oeil, merci José.

I always like walking through this kind of narrow streets. The unknown neighbourhood of famous places. Not so spectacular but often just as beautiful or even more beautiful.

c'est toujours frappant de voir la propreté et la netteté de ces rues quand on les compare à celles de la ville où je vis (Liège) souvent souillées.
Excellent contrastes entre pierres chaudes et ciel bleu, de belles lumières mlagré l'étroitesse des rues.

This is a wonderful capture of historical alley. I liked old facades and shining path. Traditional balconies with their ferro barriers are makes your frame more rich one under amazing sky. The relieves on yellow facade are seems very interesting. Thanks for not cloning the cables on air.

Très bon équilibre de luminosité entre le ciel et la partie ombrée de la rue.
La lumière sur façade au soleil est difficilement gérable.
Ou bien sous exposer pour avoir la façade correctement exposée mais avec une rue sombre, à moins de tenter un discret HDR ? Pas si simple mais c'est bon quand-même.

Una gran perspectiva la que has conseguido con esta antigua y estrecha calle del barrio antiguo de Tarragona. Muy bien equilibrada de luz y contraste con un atractivo color.

Hacia mucho tiempo que no visitaba tu galería, no sabia cual elegir para criticar, al final elijo esta, una imagen que transmite la tranquilidad de este bello y típico lugar, el formato vertical es acertado, de este modo logras una buena composición y una gran profundidad, también conseguiste equilibrar la luz de una forma magistral, un buen trabajo.

Hi José,

I like this photograph very much, the composition is good and the exposure is even better. I had to check your camera to see if it was a film camera, usually capturing images like these in a digital camera is difficult.

The composition is good, however a human or some other subject on the street might have added to the composition.
