Another hermitage in the mountains of Montserrat

Montserrat is a multi-peaked mountain located near the city of Barcelona.
This mountainous massif located about 50 km from Barcelona, has had a great spiritual attraction since antiquity.
It is well known as the site of the Benedictine abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat, which hosts the Virgin of Montserrat sanctuary and which is identified by some with the location of the Holy Grail in Arthurian myth.

"Montserrat" literally means "saw (serrated, like the common handsaw) mountain" in Catalan. It describes its peculiar aspect with multitude of rock formations which are visible from a great distance. The mountain is composed of strikingly pink conglomerate, a form of sedimentary rock. Montserrat is Spain's first National Park.

Inna niezwykła pustelnia w górach Montserrat. Niesamowite polożenie. Jak sie tam dostać? Widok z tej pustelni też musi byc fantastyczny. Zachwycający obraz.

Hi Piotr,

The wideness of the area is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the mountain and of the abbey. The haze does not hurt the output of the colors. Have a nice day.

absolutely amazing to think how they could build such a monestary/church in the rock face and steep hills like this.

its mind blowing really, especially way back in the past too.

the sky/air is hazy, but thats not your fault, infact it adds to the atmosphere and allure overall.

Hello Piotr,

I visited Barcelona but failed to see anything like this! It is a spectacular landscape and you have managed to capture its magnificent beauty, along with the precarious presence of a hermitage.
The diagonal composition is very effective, its f/g sharpness helping to give a sense of depth to the hazy b/g beyond.

Great sense of heights conveyed through this photo, Ptotr.
Looking at details: there is one rock on right 1/3 from the bottom, that looks like an imaginary goat's head.
