Learning to sail, a photo from Barcelona, Catalonia

The Nova Icària Beach is placed in the centre of the littoral of the city of Barcelona, has approximately 400 m of length and is very calm. It is in the north side of the Port Olímpic, from which it is separated by Gregal's Wharf. In this Wharf the Municipal Sail Center is located where it is possible to learn to sail.
Thanks to the celebration of the Olympic Games of 1992 in Barcelona, the city recovered its beaches and the access to the sea. In the Port Olímpic the sail competitions were celebrated, and later, its facilities are to the service of all the citizens, since you can see in the photo that I present today, in that a few young men begin in this sport.

I took the photo from inside a restaurant in the Wharf, because I liked the nautical environment, the dynamism and blue so Mediterranean tones. A summer scene, undoubtedly.

The WS 1 is another capture a few instants later.

The WS 2 is an image of the large windows and the terrace of the restaurant from where I took the photos.

La Playa de la Nova Icària está situada en el centro del litoral de la ciudad de Barcelona, tiene unos 400 m de longitud y es muy tranquila. Está en el lado norte del Port Olímpic, del que está separada por el Muelle de Gregal. En este Muelle se ubica el Centro Municipal de Vela donde se puede aprender a navegar.

Gracias a la celebración de los Juegos Olímpicos de 1992 en Barcelona, la ciudad recuperó sus playas y el acceso al mar. En el Port Olímpic se celebraron las regatas, y después, sus instalaciones están al servicio de todos los ciudadanos, como podéis ver en la foto que presento hoy, en la que unos jóvenes se inician en este deporte.

Tomé la foto desde dentro de un restaurante en el Muelle, porque me gustó el ambiente náutico, el dinamismo y los tonos azules tan mediterráneos. Una escena veraniega, sin duda.

El WS 1 es otra toma unos instantes después.

El WS 2 es una imagen de los ventanales y la terraza del restaurante desde donde tomé las fotos.

La foto es sencilla y tiene una composición tan ajustada como correcta. Me gusta y la nota es muy ilustrativa.
A más, los WS (el del restaurtante sobretodo) me parecen muy acertados.

Aparte de lo sencilla que parezca, me gusta como se manifiesta la inmensidad del mar, los tonos azules como constrastan bellamente y el dinamismo que se concentra en los veleros

Un horizonte muy bien manejado, así como un adecuado manejo de la luz.

Bonjour, mon bon ami Josep,
Belle présentation de l'initiation à la voile avec une surveillance motorisée (du moins, je le suppose).
Le trio de voiliers est parfaitement placé dans la composition.
Quant aux autres photographies, un pur régal, particulièrement celle du restaurant offrant une vue magnifique !

Having the Olympics in your city costs a lot of money that some people complain about, but you show how all the new facilities can then be utilised by the people for years to come. The cluster of three sailing boats works well as a composition with the accompanying boat well separated. Well done

Una sencilla pero muy buena foto, los colores de los pequeños veleros rompen con los tonos azules del mar y el cielo, buen POV desde el restaurante, no se que hiciste pero la linea del horizonte esta perfecta. Tus WS como siempre son tambien muy bunas fotos.

Hola Josep,
While your teacupo against the wonderful sky looks wonderful from the thumbnail; I have to choose this one because I love sail. Most sailing pix are boring but you have reall captured the excitement with the three boats jockeying for position, the overtaking boat stealing the wind of the downwind leader and the sailors hiked out to balance the boat. VERY well done!!

This is perfect use of the straight line horizon, which splits the frame in half. Like the small boat in the far BG...to me it balances the compo. well with the other boats & lifeboat in the FG to the left. A very nice scene, well captured my friend.

Hello Josep,

Sailing is great fun but unfortunately I don't do that as often as when I was living on the Atlantic coastline!
This is a composition that is attractive in its simplicity, and the wonderful colours are a treat to my eyes...
So I guess the instructor are in the motor boat then, hehehe!
