Photographer's Note

The House Milà, called popularly The Stone quarry (stone quarry, in Catalan, means quarry), is a work of the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí and it was constructed between the year 1906 and 1910 in the modernist Catalan style. Located in the number 92 of the Walk of Grace (in Catalan, Passeig de Gràcia) in the district of the Widening (in Catalan Eixample) of Barcelona, the house was built by order of the marriage Roser Segimon and Pere Milà.

The building, for the innovative thing, is a typical work gaudiana in that the geometric lines are only straight forming curved planes. All his frontage is realized in natural stone, except the top part that is covered of white tiles. The combination of the stone and of these white tiles evokes a covered with snow mountain. In the roof there are big exits of stairs and chimneys, the above mentioned covered with fragments of bottles and with the appearance of heads of warriors covered by helmets.
It is of emphasizing the beauty of the wrought iron of his balconies, which simulate climbing plants. It possesses a whole of five plants, more a diaphanous storage room realized in his totality with arches catenarios and the mentioned roof, as well as two big patios and smaller several.

At present the building is a property of a savings bank, which has carried out continued works of conservation and restoration and keeps her opened to the public for his visit, there being able to be visited the housings of the fourth plant, the storage room and the patio; being other plants occupied by offices or still by some ancient Catalan families.

In 1984 the UNESCO declared the House Milà Patrimonio of the Humanity.

In a beautiful day of the sun and good temperature, to be a December. The house was full of visitors, that as I and the boy that I show in the photo, they were not stopping doing instantanéas to this nice and singular patio of The Stone quarry.
