On the western façade, the main one, the three traditional portals open to each of the naves, all with a trefoil arch and the central one, the Puerta del Perdón, with a mullion. Attached to the side of the Epistle stands an impressive square tower with blind arches in the upper sections and buttresses that culminate in pinnacles.
The stone spire, designed by Pedro de Brizuela, dates from the 1610s, erected after a fire caused by lightning that had destroyed the Gothic wood and lead arrow whose pyramidal structure was the tallest in the peninsula, the tower it has been inhabited until the middle of the 20th century by the bell ringer.
The large space that develops in front of this façade, the first action of the city on a large scale in terms of the organization of the road network and opening of public spaces, was conditioned in the Baroque, delimited by a wall with lions holding the arms of the city, the Cabildo and the king and with pyramids. It is known as “El Paved” because at the end of the 18th century it was paved with the granite lauds of the canons who had been buried in the naves, removed when it was decided to re-pave the temple.

Hola Luis,
Beautiful facade indeed. The cathedral is very impressive,it has quite a unique design and is very recognizable. Nice details in the workshop too.
I am glad every time I can share something not know n to other people. If I manage to show some views of Lanzarote which you missed it is a great satisfaction. I am sure you will show some views which I didn't see as well.
Great reportage here, excellent work,

Hello Luis,
The cathedral rises dramatically towards the sky in the main photo thanks to the close, low angle of the photo. It is an impressive sight and a well executed picture. Among the WS I especially like the beautiful Gothic details of #2. The statue of Christ is not quite to my taste, but it is cleverly made.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Luis,
It is an impressive cathedral. The color of the sky is a bit unusual, did you use a filter?

Salut Luis,

Hello dear Luis,
Impressive view of the facade of the Segovia Cathedral. I like the details of the Gothic windows, the figure of Christ looks rather macabre.
Have nice last days of 2021

Hello Luis,
Segovia's famous cathedral, seen here from a different point of view.
It is a very beautiful and masterful architectural work.
In the WS another unusual but fantastic piece of art: the Reclining Christ of Gregorio Fernández.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Luis,
A great photo of the cathedral. Super sharpness, which shows the details so well. The warm colours stand out well from the sky as well and the darker walls and sculptures in the foreground add a good contrast as well.
