Toledo Cathedral, a photo from Toledo, Castilla-La Mancha

Photographer's Note

Except for its own wonderful architecture, Madrid is quite close to several other beautiful destinations, one of them being Toledo. Luis has kindly accompanied me in my day trip there. Old town of Toledo is located on a hill which is on three sides surrounded by Tagus River. This makes it a great subject for postcard type photography. There are several viewpoints from across the river towards the old town, and for me they were more interesting to visit than the old town itself.
However, once you get to the old town already, there is a multitude of rich interiors in which you can spend definitely more than a day. If you need to peak one: the cathedral is probably the best choice. I have spent over an hour inside the cathedral and it felt not enough. It is a predominantly Gothic structure, however there is as well one Baroque altar inside (in this photo), made of marble, jasper and bronze, by Narciso Tome.

Good evening Mariusz,
Rich architecture and art elements made this known Cathedral drawing many tourists, but also there is a unique phenomenon inside: There is a direct outside light onto the altar which lit throughout most of daytime sunshine, from a hole in the ceiling.
Fine clear shot indoor's, shown details most effectively.

I've seen this altar in Toledo, and your photo displays it beautifully, showing the ornate detail of the carvings, and the richness of the woods, marble and gold. This is an excellent photograph. Congratulation, and thanks for sharing with us.

This is great, I really like the composition inlcuding part of the vaults and the details are magnificent. I don't know this cathedral but the it looks wonderful and you managed light really well. Great work!

Katedra w Toledo jest rzeczywiście wspaniała i żeby całą zwiedzic i sfotografować trzeba duzo czasu. Ten barokowy ołtarz jst zdumiewającym zwłaszcza podobała mi sie ta górna część, koło kopuły. Ale jest tam wiele fantastycznych ołtarzy, stalle, krużganki... Żnakomita prezentacja.

Bogactwo oltarza robi wrazenie.Jeszcze wieksze jakosc zdjecia, ktora ciezko uzyskac we wnetrzach kosciolow.Swietne polaczenie gotyckich sklepien ze sztuka baroku - rzadko spotykane.

A good upward pov on the ornately decorated altar of the Toledo Cathedral. Good sharpness and perspective has been well managed placing the verticals centrally. Nice repetition of the vaulted ceiling arches. Tfs.

Takie nagromadzenie szczegółów, że nie wiadomo na co patrzeć, imponujący, wysoki i bardzo zdobny ołtarz, widzę całe mnóstwo scen ilustrujących Biblię

PS. Katedra w Burgos może Ci się wydawać znajoma, bo nawiązuje do francuskiego gotyku, np. Notre Dame

With careful exposure and adjustment you have revealed the intricate detail and colors so subtly. Excellent vertical frame, light management and perspective. I love the colours and textures, even if this type of architecture is a bit over the top for my tastes. The wide angle lens has worked extremely well here to produce a very artistic and unique photo.
