The Garden of Cactus de Guatiza is a museum - garden, an important collection of different species of cactus.
More than 10.000 cactus, representing 1.450 different species proceeding from America, Madagascar and of Canaries, of course, they are a part of the different levels of patios of this garden.

César Manrique transformed an ancient quarry into a theater - fórum to exhibit a plantation of cactus.

The Garden of Cactus, realized in 1991, was the last work of César Manrique in Lanzarote.
The Garden of Cactus is a magnificent example of use of a damaged space, since the garden was constructed in an ancient quarry of extraction of volcanic ash, material known like "rofe" or "picón" (soft coal), which the peasants were using to protect his cultures of the moisture during the night.
The complex is provided also with an ancient mill restored and whitened with lime in which it is possible to see how the flour of Canary millet is prepared used to prepare the gofio.
