Photographer's Note

The Christmas tree in the centre of Valdemossa is adorned with decorations all made of recycled objects. I thought this (rein)deer made of corks was quite sweet.

Of course anyone with any reason knows that all the recycling we do is like a drop in the ocean of behaviours that seriously harm our environment. The problem is - to change that we would have to completely abandon our lifestyles. And it's not just about little luxuries like wining and dining, but almost all creature comforts we enjoy in our daily lives.

Can you live without your smartphone, laptop, camera? Your car, your TV? Even if you can ditch all the above... how about cutlery, plates, bed linen, toilet paper, books? And without our travels?

Can you grow your own vegetables and farm animals and then spend all day preparing your food? Can you build your own home, make your own clothes?

Unless we, especially in the over-affluent west (that includes me, if anyone doesn't know!) can't do all of the above and more, we won't be able to save our planet.

Two more photos in WS. I bet most members would prefer the night street shot as the main upload (with a more optimistic note too!). :-)
