Photographer's Note

Settled in amongst the magnificent hills of the Serra de Tramuntana - a World Heritage Site - is Finca Pública de Galatzó. A Mallorcean treasure: a grand finca house set in a large estate in the foothills of Puig de Galatzó, one of Mallorca's most prominent mountains, easily noticed by what I call its 'double hump peak'. I believe the finca once belonged to a prominent family but they could no longer run it and the government took it over and have slowly restored it for free public use.

Inside the finca is a wonderful courtyard with a water well set in the centre. Adjacent rooms show how the house was a small working industry back in the day, with equipment such as olive oil presses and grain grinding stones, and much, much more.

There are also miles and miles of amazing walks. Miles and miles of splendid stone walls. Miles and miles of magnificent mountains. Miles and miles of hard hills to hike, and for nature lovers, this place is simply paradise! Loads of bird life, flycatchers everywhere, finches, swallows, shrikes and falcons. And on this occasion, there also happens to be my wonderful wife, courting a cockerel, telling him what a handsome fella he is and how much she loves him!

A must visit if you like to get off the beaten track.
