Photographer's Note

Gipsy women during feria de abril in Sevilla.

Feria de abril (also known as Feria de Sevilla) is a festival that takes place every year in April in Sevilla. It used to be a horse market but it slowly developed into a mainly eating, drinking and dancing festival.

It starts on Monday evening two weeks after Easter and finishes on Sunday. If these 2 weeks would mean it would start in May it is brought forward. People go to these big tents and eat tapas, drink (everything but mainly rebujitos - which is dry manzanilla wine with 7 Up) and dance Sevillanas - a simplier version of flamenco.

Many women dress in Flamenco dresses (you can see behind these gipsy ladies).

The busiest times are always at night from 10 PM to 5 AM but you could say it is open 24/7.

During the last weekend it gets super busy and is said that up to 1 million people come to the festival in 1 day.
