Photographer's Note

Plaza del Potro is located in the the district of the Axerquia in the city of Cordoba, Southern Spain. It gets its name from the Renaissance fountain in the middle, whose main decorative feature is the figure of a potro (colt).

Traditionally, the square was a place where cattle were bought and sold, and artisans worked, as can be seen from the famous Posada (inn), which bears the same name and which is mentioned by Cervantes in Don Quixote.

Hi Stephen,

The yellow and rose tints of the fountain contrast splendidly against the blue sky to give a wonderful warm cold color contrast. Good sharpness and the equestrian statue atop the fountain adds a focal point. Tfs!

Hello Stephen,

I just love that in the olden days they didn't just build a purposeful fountain for people to use, they dedicated it to a religious or historical person to add vitality and colour and presence (I'm sure they believed it would be propitious, too).

I like your composition, dominating the f/g with the details of this fine example and then, using the lines of the building to guide inwards. It's a fine, shot with great light.

this is a sweet little shot.
its not too often we get to see that peach color in the lower fg, and on the fountain itself. this fountain is very rustic, and thats where it shows off its charm. the yellow bg is a fine secondary subject too. you filled up the frame nicely here, lots to see. cheers
