The Royal stables of Cordoba are the basic reference building in the task of gestating one of the best and most famous races that gave the story: El Caballo Andaluz, our Purebred Spanish.

This emblematic building was created in 1570, by the express command of King Philip II, as a great lover of horses, wanted to create a new race in Córdoba horse, the Andalusian horse - Purebred Spanish.

For this purpose, appointed equerry to Cordoba Diego López de Haro, ordered necessary to note the meadows to graze ponies and broodmares, and ordered the construction of the extraordinary Royal Mews, the "cathedral for horses", as the poet Federico called García Lorca.

The Royal Mews have formed a prominent part of the story not only equestrian Cordoba, but the riding world. But if its monumentality importantly, we must not forget its purpose: to give shelter to the best stallions for 442 years without interruption. Sometimes with copies of the Royal Stud, others with the Infante Francisco de Paula and lately with the Deposit of State Stallions, under the direction of Horse Breeding Service until 1995.

Noteworthy is the achievement made within its walls: the Caballo Andaluz - Purebred Spanish - qualities that made the city of Cordoba would be known worldwide as a center of breeding.
