Photographer's Note

There are already plenty of excellent pictures from Piran at Trekearth, but I think this view is new. The medieval city walls used to surround the inner city, but only parts of them are left, like here on the top of the peninsula. In the distance, one can discern the Croatian coast, which for much of Piran's history was no foreign territory, whether the regions belonged to Austria, Venice or Yugoslavia.
