Photographer's Note
Photography is for the unemployed...
...it could sound better for the freelancers, but I'd miss the point... why? There are few ways to make a photo. Some will walk around and search for a perfect situation, some others will just sit and wait for the perfect situation, some will be just lucky... For the first two you need plenty of time and the fortune is not allways on your side. So... what to do, when you work all day long, the world pass by and you're in the office with the mountain of work to finish? You wait for the weekend - of course!
Let the light assist you!
ps:
adopted technique: saturday, walking around slowly, ready to catch a perfect situation, some strategic stops to wait for the world to come into my way... and finally - looking the pictures on camera's monitor unaware of surroundings. Just because of the car coming, I rised my head... No technique, no mettering, no time for nothing, just shot. Well, I've lost some time for PP, but who cares then.

Hej Tomi,
Great capture, straight from daily life. You had a fantastic light here and made well use of it. Also the choice for sepia tones was a good one. There are some nice small details to explore, like that little pool in the foreground with such small ripples. Great capture, thanks for sharing!

It's very well composed for a grab shot Tomi, and I like the sombre mood you've generated here. The addition of the cyclist is important to the success of the shot, although I think it would have worked even better if he had been cycling along the alley away from you rather doing whatever it is he is doing here. What I do like though, is how you caught the man and the wheel of his bike in the bright area in the centre of the alley.
Good work.
Cheers,
Ben

Usually when I wait for the week-end it rains. :)
Great opportunist shot with very good contrast. Your PP work has been successful and you have produced an excellent image.

Hi Tomi
Good result for a "snapshot", to be honest that is how i always shoot:)
I like the sepia look in this one, it kind of invite to that treatment, with the old brick wall and the guy with the bicycle, it could easily have been taken 50 years ago.
Nice one

Excellent sepia tones and old textures. The biker seen through that passage make an interesting and a bit mysterious compo.

Hi Tomi - the archway makes a good frame for the scene within it. Your composition is good & the conversion to B&W/sepia works well too.

I really like this shot a lot! The view through the doorway is good, because acts not only as an entrance to another space, but it also serves as a natural frame. The lighting is great too, with the light area around the door, then the darkness of the passage, and then the light at the end of the passage making a perfect silhoette for the man. I like the black & white conversion too. Excellent!

Hi Tomi,
Yes, that's the way it goes. You wait for the weekend and then it rains...
But it matters less when you have such charming corners to look for. All you needed was a glimpse of cyclist and masterful PP.

Ciao Tomi,
Complimenti e stammi bene!

Hi Tomi,
This scene could be from any century - well, provided they had bicycles of course! I like the sepia tones here and the old fashioned postcard look. And yes, its all about light and here it does co-operate. The vertical format works well. A nice one.

Hello Tomi.
Interesting point you bring up...I find that carrying my camera at all times relieves the stress of a lack of time for photography. I know, not everyone has the ability to carry a camera to all points of the earth...or do you? A very small point-an-shoot...and Rollei film mini...Why not? There are moments every day that need a shutter to stop. Some are limited by what they want to shoot...only people; unaware. Only buildings of a certain age...only landscapes with sweeping vistas...
I like them all...there is no thought to pulling out my camera and taking a picture. So time...time is with you my friend...24 hours a day. Remember, even the greatest photographer has only seconds...maybe a lifetime equal to minutes to make his/her reputation...a click of the shutter doesn't add up too quickly.
By the way, a fantastic moody shot...good job.
Regards,
Chris.

Uh, svidja mi se ovo puno puno! pre svega kompozicija - ovaj 'dead centre' je pun pogodak po mom misljenju. A onda obrada - zaista deluje kao iz proslosti. Odlican rad!
