Photographer's Note

Nosicz - a Tatra porter typical of the Slovak part of the Tatra Mountains. Nosicz is a person who provides mountain shelters with everything that is needed for the functioning of these shelters, e.g. fuel, water, food. Their loads weigh around 60–80 kg, both in summer and winter.

Slovak hostels are located in the high parts of the mountains, the terrain there is difficult for any vehicles, so all the supplies are provided by the porters mentioned.

A great view of the rocky mountain slope. The shapes and colours look great underneath the blue sky. Good inclusion of the people at left also.

Hello Janusz,
That man is carrying an amazing load, so he is entitled to some rest. I see a colleague of his further up the track. It's a fascinating view, partly because of these very hard working men but also for the rough scenery and the good colours.

cześc Janusz, Nie wiedziałam, ze w Słowackich Tatrach pracują tacy tragarze. Ale żeby schronisko mogło działać, trzeba różne rzeczy dostarczyć. Podobnie jest u nas w Dolinie Pięciu Stawów. Imponujacy ma ten ładunek, co za krzepa! Fantastyczny widok na wysokie góry. Po takiej ścieżce chyba trudno sie idzie.

I remember these 'Tatra Sherpas' well. I used to hike there a lot earlier. I have a photo. I will dig up my archives.
