Photographer's Note

A photo from Vydrovo forestry open-air museum. You can get here from small town of Čierny Balog, about 8 km from Brezno.

From Čierny Balog it is recommended to take a narrow-gauge railway train, especially if you are with kids. The train is drived by an old diesel locomotive and people are sitting in open carriages. You do not have to worry about falling out of the carriage, because the trains goes only a bit faster than fast human walking - i.e. by train you get to the museum in 15 minutes, by walk in 20-25 minutes.

The museum teaches the visitors about all aspects of forestry and caring for forests. I did not expect much from visiting this museum, as this is does not belong to my area of interests, by I was charmed. I definitely recommend this attraction, but reserve at least 5 hours for it, so you can enjoy the walk in fresh forest air.

In the back thereīs a forresterīs house equipped with satellites. Until very recent time, many people living in valleys or under mountains had hard time receiving TV signal. Few years ago, digital satellite broadcasting of Slovak TV-channels begun and the people now have a possibility of receiving a high quality TV-signal.
As you can see, wood is already prepared - winters are long and cold in mountain valleys and even in summer, nights are mornings can be pretty chilly.
