Photographer's Note

The oldest house in Srem (region between Sava and Danube - see map), one of the oldest in the Serbia. It was built about 300 years ago. Made of beams between which is woven a network of sticks, plastered with clay mixed with chaff. No foundation, just a beam laid on the ground, and on the beams erected walls. It is still functional, but no one lives in it, the last owners died in the late eighties. It is now a national monument.
