Photographer's Note
According to recent discoveries, the fortress, which was built during the 14th century by Medieval Serbian state, is split into three compounds which were built in stages. It has ten towers, most of which started square, and several of which received many-sided reinforcements with the advent of firearms. Towers were not connected for easier defense. Also inside the fortress were found Serbian Medieval frescos.
Golubac Fortress has had a tumultuous history. Prior to its construction it was the site of a Roman settlement. During the Middle Ages, it became the object of many battles, especially between the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary. It changed hands repeatedly, passing between Turks, Bulgarians, Hungarians, Serbs, and Austrians, until 1867, when it was turned over to the Serbian Knez, Mihailo Obrenović III. Now, it is a popular tourist attraction in the region and a sightseeing point on Danube boat tours.

Hi Aleksandar,
A great photo of the majestic castle in brilliant sunlight. The large version has great details. We can just see a few people to show us how big this castle is. I would love to explore the walls and towers.

Hello Aleksandar,
I am always a big fan of castles, this is more a fortress, build on the slope of the rock.
You took a nice panorama picture with depth and perspective.
Excellent sharp and nice of colour.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John.

Hello Aleksandar,
I've seen pictures of Golubac Fortress before but this is really a very beautiful one!
You searched for a very good point of view (perhaps you were in a boat) to show us the many towers of the fortress while none of them is obstructing the view of another one.
It's strange to find the bare rock wall in between the towers.
On the top left a few visitors can be found on a very spectacular spot.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Sasha, Impressive fortress and fantastic presentation. I was also in Golubac two years ago but there were some scaffoldings and I didn't post any picture. Now it looks wonderful. Stunning view on a sunny day. All renovation being made. Were you in a boat when you took this photo? The point of view is terrific.
Best regards MAlgo

Spectacular fortress and it's great that it was rebuilt. A fine attraction point along the Danube.
