Monument to Prince Lazar in Cuprija.
View of the monument, located at the entrance from the Belgrade-Nis highway in Cupriju.
Lazar Hrebeljanović (1329 - 1389) was a Serbian prince and regional lord from the 14th century with the capital in Krusevac.
In the conflict between King Vukašin and Emperor Uros in 1369, he remained loyal to the Emperor. After the death of Uros and the collapse of the Serbian Empire, he became a vassal of the Hungarian King Louis the Great. In 1373, with the Bosnian king Tvrtko, he attacked and divided the state of Nikola Altomanovic, after which he became one of the most powerful Serbian nobles.
In 1375, Lazar Hrebeljanović ended the church schism with Constantinople from the time of Emperor Dusan, and gained recognition for the Serbian church from Byzantium. He reached an agreement with the Patriarchate of Constantinople, renouncing the right of Serbs to the imperial title, and in return, Byzantium recognized the Serbian Patriarchate. In 1378, the church expressed strong support for the nobleman Lazar Hrebeljanović and crowned him prince.
Prince Lazar successfully repulsed several Ottoman incursions into Serbia during the 1380s. He died in the battle of Kosovo in 1389.
In folk epics, he became one of the leading figures of the Kosovo cult. The Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates him as Holy Emperor Lazarus.

Hello Pavle,
The B&W format intensified the impression of this statue against its surrounding park.
The mist and low light was superbly handled.
Have a nice friday,

Hi Pavle,a rare back and white in your gallery, but in fact isn't easy to take colors in this scenery and in this foggy day,so i agree for your choice. A large view showing the statue of Prince Lazar in a great sharpness despite the distance, well done! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Pavle,
I really like the darker and lighter (more grey) silhouettes of the trees, the many lampposts and the imposing statue. Very well captured on that foggy November day.

Zdravo Pavle,
ovde ste teške uslove dobro pretvorili u sjajnu priliku za fotografisanje.
Lepo je videti karakterističnije siluete, takođe spomenik, oni oživljavaju scenu.
Veoma dobro obavljeno!

Hi Pavle
this is a very interesting visual. We don't see many monument type shots like this from you - its a pleasant surprise.
having all the tall street lights surrounding it adds SO much to the overall experience. its as if the monument is talking and interacting with them. Great shot from back here. cheers

Hello Pavle,
Prince Lazar seems to have had a particularly hectic life and a great influence in Serbia.
It seems a sign of the sad times that he standing aloft with not a single figure to see him or give him attention!
The misty atmosphere adds to the sense of melancholy in your well composed photograph.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Pavle,
Good graphism of the darker toned statue & street lights against the paler misty bg. A superbly sharp b&w image with the fog adding mood and atmosphere. Tfs!

Hi Pavle
The fog gives a nice feel and atmospheric where focus is still on the statue. What an awful day, but put a camera in our hands and we view it very differently. You managed to get good exposure and just sufficient features. This is a well taken shot braving the elements
Best regards
