Pumpkins in the fall.

View of the soup and pumpkins - pumpkins, on the roof of the shed in the fall.
Pumpkin, lat. Cucurbita pepo) is an annual creeping plant from the pumpkin family (Cucurbitaceae), whose large fruits are used in human nutrition, and the seeds are also used in phytotherapy.
Pumpkin is an annual plant, reclining, angular tree with forks, covered with sharp hairs. The tree can be 10 meters long and 10 millimeters thick on average. The leaves are with long stalks, large, five-lobed and overgrown with sharp hairs. The flowers are large, unisexual, yellow.
The fruit is a large berry, spherical or cylindrical in shape, yellow, white or orange, with a smooth, slightly ribbed rind. The inside of the pumpkin is intensely yellow to orange in color, containing seeds and pulp. The fruit of the traditional pumpkin (Cucurbita pepo) usually weighs between 2.7 and 8.2 kilograms, while the fruit of larger varieties (Cucurbita maxima) regularly reaches a weight of over 34 kilograms.
The pulp of the fruit and seeds are edible. The pulp is rich in water, fiber, protein and vitamins and is used in the diet, most often heat-treated. The seeds are rich in fatty oil, proteins and minerals and are used roasted, as a dessert or to obtain oil by cold pressing. Pumpkin oil is reddish in color, high quality, easy to digest. Seeds and oil are used in phytotherapy for benign prostatic hyperplasia.
