Plug je orudje za osnovnu obradu zemljista.
Plug se razvio iz rucnog rala i motike jos u neolitu na podrucju Mesopotamije. U 2. milenijumu se upotrebljavao u severnoj Italiji i juznoj Svedskoj, a u 1. milenijumu na citavom podrucju Sredozemlja, u istocnoj Evropi i Kini.
Prvi plugovi su bili izradjeni od drveta, a za vucu je sluzila stoka, anticki narodi su okivali plugove, tek je 18. vek doneo znacajan napredak u njihovoj konstrukciji.
