Stone rosette in Cozia, a photo from Vilcea, West

Photographer's Note

The walls are decorated with stone rosettes, horizontal Byzantine-style rows of brick and stone, and the vertical frames are unprecedented in Wallachian architecture. The resemblance to the Lazarica church indicates that Mircea I hired Serbian artists from the Moravian School.

Hi Luis,rosettes are one of the typical symbols of bizantine architechtures,a lot of church of center and southern Italy has rosettes,the most famous is surely the basilica of Assisi. It's a nicely composed, straight and well cropped photo. The fine colours and light, and above all the excellent sharpness, give us a perfect view of the fine work by the masons and other artisans involved in the construction.

gostei muito dos diversos tipos de adornos e texturas que temos aqui. a rosácea negra de metal é belíssima e são curiosos aqueles pequenos detalhes que parecem letras X ao redor . muito belo detalhe da igreja e uma foto perfeita.

Hola Luis,
beautiful fragment of the Byzantine architecture at its best. Inequalities of the wall indicate it must be old.
This is a style so rarely present in the northern Europe and always appears to me quite exotic.
Very well spotted and presented here to show one more aspect of the Romanian culture,
