Photographer's Note
The Patriarchal Cathedral of Bucharest is the seat of the Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church. The cathedral is located in the capital Bucharest and is built in the Romanian Renaissance style.
The cathedral was built between 1656-1658 by the Wallachian prince Constantino Serban. Construction was continued by Mihnea III, the church was finally finished under the reign of Radu Leon. It was elevated to metropolitan residence on June 8, 1668.
Inside the cathedral are the tombs of various patriarchs, including: Miron Cristea and Nicodim Munteanu. In a niche in the northern part is the coffin with the relics of Saint Demetrius of Basarabov, patron of the city of Bucharest.
Currently, the Cathedral of the Salvation of the Romanian People (Catedrala Mântuirii Neamului Românesc) is under construction, conceived to be the largest temple in the country and is dedicated to Saint Andrew the Apostle, it was consecrated in 2018 although still unfinished. For this reason, the Cathedral of the Salvation of the Romanian People is since then, the new cathedral of Bucharest and the seat of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

Hola Luis,
this is so beautiful. I don't recall ever seeing it before! It makes me want to go to Romania just to see it.
The towers are having the traditional Byzantine design but they are much narrower than we can see in Greece for example, and there are two sister towers here.
Beautiful architecture and captured in a great light with fantastic resulting colors.
Excellent work,
M

Hello Luis,
Yes, I remember this religious building but I didn't know it was a cathedral. I assumed it was a church.
It is rather small but so beautiful!
The light makes its red colour appear even more attractive.
Beautifully presented between the plain blue sky and the green lawn and hedge.
Best regards, Paul

podemos ver que a igreja tem um formato que lembra aquelas da rússia e da grécia, mas aqui tem um aspecto algo diferente, provavelmente mais ligado à tradição arquitetônica local. linda foto.
abraço e feliz 2021

Hi Luis, very nice cathedral, built many hundreds ago but that seems modern and futuristic watching its style. A geometric architechture made in bricks, very rare to find among the orthodox churches. Interesting post very well done and very bright as usual. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Luis,
I don't quite remember this church, but it's more than 10 years since I visited Bucharest, so it's maybe just my failing memory. It is a very elegant building in an unusual colour that provides a stunning contrast to the green lawn and hedge. You captured it with a very good light and exposure.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Luis
This has to be one of the smallest cathedrals anywhere! It has an intriguing design. Well captured detail and colour.

Buen dias Luis,
POV superbly chosen, from this side you manage to show both towers and the details of the facade under side light which enhanced its carved semi-arches and round shapes walls.
Also, added the green lawn and bushes in fine contrast.
Wish you a nice new day,
Ike

Hola Luis,
This is a very beautiful cathedral, the decorative exterior very much created by the brickwork, rather than by long, elegant windows. It does reveal a very distinctive style, the towers seeming to be a mixture of towers and domes!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Luis
It's bright with warm colours and excellent contrast to green patches: great highlights of the imposing medieval structures in such subtle detail with excellent scale reference. Too luminous, well done shot
Best regards

Hello Luis,
Great photo of this church, the warm colours of the brick walls are lovely, especially in this very bright sunlight. The twin towers stand out well from the blue sky. Good work in a nice and tight composition.
