Photographer's Note

There has been lot of unsettled and dramatic weather recently in and around Cluj-Napoca, after about a week of hot and sunny conditions.

This was taken about 2 weeks ago during a spectacular and violent thunderstorm. Storm clouds made their appearance in the afternoon and a band of storms hit the area in the evening and during the night. I decided to take advantage and try to capture some dramatic moments during the show. It was to be the first time I have ever attempted something like this. Quite a surreal experience since I had little protection from the elements. Luckily it was raining very little where I was standing. Many opportunities missed and this was the first hit. Must have been divine intervention, as my finger, tensed up over the shutter button, twitched in the heat of anticipation and triggered the shutter. Coincidence? This is the result. Three more successful shots followed, this being the most spectacular.

I regret not having a tripod and remote control on hand. The mediocre lens is nothing to rave about.
