My 100th Post (Plum Lady), a photo from Bihor, West

Photographer's Note

For my 100th I uploaded this shot of an old lady taken in Varzarii de Jos, Bihor county. I was lucky to be there, in the street, when she passed by the plum tree.

The plant in her hand is dill. Villagers dry it and use it when they make pickles (pickled cucumbers, cauliflower) and pickled/sour cabbage.

excellent 100th post, what I prefer here, it is the set of colors between plums and the dress of this grandmother.
And then her so natural smile.

Feeeeeeeeeeelicitari, draga mea,pentru aceasta fotografie cat si pentru intreaga ta galerie aici !!Esti cel mai bun reprezentant al nostru aici,dupa parerea mea!Toata admiratia mea sincera!
Iar despre noroc nu poate fi vorba ....e vb de talent, ...sau nu uite fac o micuta concesie:norocul a fost doar ca rochia simpla a batranei doamne are exact culoarea prunelor!

Doamna in rochie de culoarea acestor prune din copacul ei e o figura foarte pitoreasca. Simpatica idee sa asortezi (sau sa asorteze) rochia cu fructele. Compozitie interesanta.

Faina imagine, Raluca! Compozitia e foarte reusita, liniile crengilor si zidul din spate dau un efect de spatialitate reusit, iar expresia fetzei face toti banii. Iar potrivirea de culori aduce un plus de interes. Felicitari pentru #100 si la mai multe!

Nice coincidence that both the lady and tree have the same colour. I loke expression on her face. She seems pleased to be photographed, yet a bit embarassed.
Do you know what is she going to do with the collected plants? Make tea perhaps?

Hi Raluca. Congratulation on your 100th upload to TE, and you picked a delightful portrait for the occasion. The old lady makes a quite cheerful appearance besides the plum tree, and of course the matching colors between the two main elements make this photo a success. Very nice shot. Raluca, you won't guess what I like most about this photo... It's the dill. Aesthetically, the purple-blue of the plums and the lady's dress make a nice combination and for whatever reason these elements go very well with the green of the plum tree leaves. However, as I said, t me the dill stands out as a symbol of a Romanian tradition. I like that you brought it up in your note.

Belated congratulations on your 100th. What a coincidence! God has put the camera in your hand to press the shutter then and there! The purple plums and this extraordinarirly sweet lady's dress are in absolute synch. Even without it, it would be a great shot. But with the two together, ahh... that is beauty.

A lovely rural scene for your 100th post, Raluca. I know nearly every second critique above has commented on the match of colours between her clothes and the tree, but that really is what makes this shot. Excellent DOF too - just deep enough to keep all the detail in the tree, but starting to throw the background wall just a little out of focus. Cheers . . . David
