Photographer's Note

Fog (and night, for that matter) is like clothing. The problem with it is not so much that it makes people and things harder to see, but that people and things tend to look more and more the same, when seen through it, the further they are from you. This would be true even without the fog; the effect is simply compounded. Not many people notice that fog is actually just rain that refuses, for the moment, to fall; the great irony is that if it were to fall, our vision would be that much clearer for it. And as for night, well... it is one of the few things that does not get out of the way when it falls.
