Photographer's Note

Bucharest, urban chic.

Another photo taken on Calea Victoriei (Victory Way), one of the most attractive avenues and a major thoroughfare of the city. This is further down the street from where I have taken the photo uploaded earlier.

Walking along Calea Victoriei can be a pleasant experience. Although it tends to be chocked by traffic, especially at rush hour, on this elegant avenue are located many of the city's landmarks such as: the "CEC" Palace, the National History Museum, Bucharest Financial Plaza, the "Beer Wagon" (Carul cu Bere) historic beer tavern, the "Victoria" department store (Magazinul Victoria), the "Macca" passageway, the "Cercul Militar" building (or "The Army House"), "Capsa" House (Casa Capsa) hotel & restaurant, the "Capitol" hotel, the "Bulevard" hotel, the "Odeon" theater, the "Palace of the Telephones" (Palatul Telefoanelor), the "Continental" hotel, the "Cretzulescu" church, the ex-Central Comittee building, National Art Museum (Royal Palace), the University Central Library building, the "Romanian Atheneum" (Atheneul Roman) concert hall, the Athenee Palace Hilton hotel, the Romanian Academy, the "Cantacuzino" palace (or "George Enescu" Music Museum), "Victory Palace" (Palatul Victoriei, housing the government). The avenue begins at the United Nations Square (Piatza Natziunile Unite) and, for the most part a one-way street, cuts through the center of Bucharest, ending at Victory Square (Piatza Victoriei).
