Photographer's Note

Absurdistan- the Absurd Country. A monument to the Heroes of the Romanian Revolution, looking like an impaled potato or like a giant middle finger to the skies. Behind it to the left a steel and glass modern mini-tower mimicking a miniature skyscraper rises from the foundation (and oddly keeps the monumental walls intact) of an old building that once was protected heritage and then was appropriated by the State Security forces of the communist regime and used as a special interrogation facility. Now demolished but not quite, the horrid solution was found as an easy way out to "exoricse the evils of the place" by totally changing the destination and looks, while conserving..the heritage building. But not quite. Eh well. They received prizes for this. To the right an administrative building that once housed the central comittee of the commie party now serves as a ministry.
To add insult to injury, the impaled potato received some sensless grafitti by some local kids I presume, and the work was "completed" by a touch of red paint just below the potato.
On a happier and more technical note, the pic was taken with a Nikon P500 power zoom from 2011, on manual mode. The light was as harsh/white/too bright and surreal as pictured- no processing because the atmosphere is just..rightfully wrong.
