Photographer's Note

Kretzulescu Church dates from the early 1720's, with the interior frescoes & religious icons added later in the mid 19th century.

The street address is Calea Victoriei 45, București 010062, Romania.

The bust in front depicts Corneliu Coposu.

The early Communists wanted to demolish this church but architects convinced them otherwise. Copusu was fiercely anti Communist and pro Nationalist. He was arrested and persecuted by the Communists, as was his wife, who died from a disease contracted in prison.

If the Communists had destroyed the church it would have cost the new rulers a lot of money to rebuild it, as has been done in Russia and Ukraine. So everyone should be happy it was saved. It provided you with a good photo opportunity with all its fine details and this warm light.

The red bricks church was under beautiful golden afternoon light, contrast well onto the modern city buildings, and the green lawn up front.
the statue has torches-lights around, wonder how it looks at night's.
