Photographer's Note

Two old men, seated alone together in the park.
It was an october cold day, and it was raining a litlle.

They come there almost everyday, they seat down and talk.
Sometime they play chess.
And i never see them upsets, they smile everyday.

J'entends souvent dire " heureux la jeunesse " mais quand je vois ta photo je peux dire aussi " heureux celui qui a bien rempli sa vie ".

Many things work in this shot… first the composition, locating the friends at 2/3 of the frame. The subject is good with a story behind it. It's funny to see they obviously noticed you. One is looking at the camera a bit amused the other is just shy. You probably made their day…
And finally, I like the wide range of deep gray tones. Can you share how it was transformed to B&W?

These retired people are very kind to offer you the possiblity to shoot a nice double portrait. Your black and white is very well contrasted, sharp, the composition is balanced and in the position and attitude of these models you have all ingredients of the good portrait you realised.

I like the strength of these faces, these eyes and the ideas we might imagine... B/W more powerfull and fits to the "age" of the subjects...

Les regards, les pensées rieuses et, à première vue, heureuses illuminent cette photo, heureusement noir/blanc (pertinence de ce mode par rapport à l'âge des sujets, au contexte aussi). La version couleur perd en forces.
