The Castle of San Francisco Xavier, more known for Castle of the Cheese, is a small fort built in XV century, whose expenditures of construction had been assured by the city of the Porto. In it existed, in times, a dedicated oratory to the San Francisco Xavier, who was placed in the room of the main house of the Castle. Despite its official name to be Strong of S. Francisco Xavier, for being it seats nuns rocks in cheese form, adopted the name of Castle of the Cheese. This Castle was used by the forces of D. Miguel, that had from there bombed the liberal troops commanded by D. Pedro.
