Photographer's Note
I'm borrowing Gert's Time machine to travel back to Porto once again.
Personally, I have never seen this viewpoint of Porto, so when I saw it in person I knew it would be a worthy addition for TE.
This is a restaurant on the waterfront, and we all know Porto's famous arched bridge...well, I took the photo FROM from bridge on the lower walking deck.
As for the title, You Know You're Getting Old When...that refers to loud music. Older people will often say "Turn down that music!"...well, our plan was to eat here, but man, the music was SO loud, and it was a style that we really couldn't stand to listen to. It was such a turn off. A big disappointment as we really wanted to eat here.
The music was the type you'd hear in a dance club for 20 year olds. It really didn't suit the restaurant. Anyways...I loved the pov of Porto, something different. I could have zoomed in on the people more, but then I'd lose the stone structure along the bottom. Therefore I kept it this way.
Hope you like it

Hello Craig,
I can't understand how you could borrow my time machine when I know perfectly well it's parked in Jordan. Besides, you don't even need a time machine to go back less than a year.
Even so, this is a nice "not oldie". I never considered eating here, but I don't remember why. Maybe the music was too loud, or I thought that with such a location it would be a typical tourist trap. I think that's very likely. All places in such locations are tourist traps, where you pay more for getting less.
But as a photo it's fine, and seeing this view brings back nice memories from just over a year ago. It was of course the best idea to use this slightly wider view to include the entire stone structure, not least the green graffiti. And in this case it's not really the people that are so important, but the general environment.
Best wishes,
Gert

Hi Craig,i hate music in restaurants, especially when they pump up the volume and isn't possible to talk with friends eating with me. So,i'm a bit old me too..ahahah...but obviously i like restaurants and this seems beutiful considering the very spaecial location. A first time for this perspective very well done as usual. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Craig,
It is such a wonderful place to have something to eat and with its location close to the iconic bridge the view must be great as well, so I can really imagine your disappointment because of the music. The photo is excellent with a fine sidelight and a great view of the river and city in the background.

Hello Craig,
Lol at you 2 arguing amicably over where Gert's time machine is parked! For sure this is a different and welcome pov looking back over the city from the iconic Porto Bridge. Tfs!

Hi Craig,
The distance between the tower and the opposite shore is giving depth to the composition. The point of view showing the details of the tower and of the restaurant. It is clear and precise. Have a nice day.

Really cool shot and the restaurant really does look like a great place to be but I understand why you didn't eat there when you mention the music. Talking about the age... you're right, I do remember times when I was 25 and we played really loud music in the office because... we were tired and overworked... all of us in our 20s. I cringe when I think of any music at work these days...
But at least you got a great photo - I like the pov, the people, the mixture of new and modern architecture.
Have a nice week.

Hi Craig
With a young child you can't be very old or were you an extremely late starter?
What a dramatic position for a restaurant? Your chosen position for taking the photo really emphasises the drama.
cheers

Hello Craig
Nice view of this restaurant, orininal composition. I do no remember the place.
In Iran and now in Oman I travel with the group. But in four days the people return to Poland and I go alone to another country. I am a bit afraid how it will be, no current TE member was there. I am very curious.
Kind regards

Hi Craig
Nice title, took me a moment to read and understand :P
Beautiful daily life photo, maybe the POV is a little higher than I would choose myself, but you manage a great overview that puts all sizes of the surroundings into perspective.
Thanks for sharing.

Hi Craig,
I had forgotten this cafe on such a special place. And indeed your viewpoint on the bridge is perfect. Obviously it's a warm day for March, as nobody wants to sit inside.

Hello Craig,
I don't think that moving away from loud music is necessarily a sign of being old! When the music is too loud and the style is not to your taste, it's a turn-off at any age!
THis is a very well chosen viewpoint, on your part, and a very well chosen viewpoint for those in the restaurant.
I like how we are able to look down on the old, stone building, possibly some protective part of the port, to see its composition, textures and situation within the port. In addition, we can appreciate how it has been adapted for modern living.
You have created an excellent sense of depth and controlled the light well.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig,
hehe... I agree with the meaning of your title.... it is an interesting and different point of view to show this part of Porto, I like it, the day was perfect to enjoy this restaurant with no music..
Best regards,

Hello Craig, an unusual and yet original viewpoint looking along the waterfront.
Even the graffiti isn’t out of place in your composition.
Excellent sharpness, lots to enjoy in this scene.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello, Craig!
The view is incredible, and it seems to be a very pleasant place to eat something of for a drink (if it was not for the loud music you say in your note...). The POV is perfect to show that, and the light and colors are very good! Wonderful composition!

Hi Craig,
fantastic view of this extraordinary restaurant from this angle its unique location became well apparent! Somebody had a great idea to use an old element and add a modern touch using it well.
Your photo could well serve as a advert for this great place. I like to sit down in a places with view like this one here.
Great reportage,

Hello Craig,
I like this unique setting for a cafe. Even though the cafe is high up, you were even higher. :-) It's fun to look down at the people, and also at the water and that bit of graffiti on the side of the tower. I agree that music in restaurants shouldn't be too loud, just loud enough to hear in the background and sing along to if you feel like it, but not loud enough to drown out conversations or give you a headache. :-)
