Photographer's Note

A view of the Commerce Square in downtown Lisbon. Lisbon, both capital and largest city of Portugal, is built on seven hills overlooking the Tagus Estuary, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean 17 km away.
The city symbolizes modern Portugal. The major rehabilitation and construction undertaken in recent decades, especially before the Exposition Universelle of 1998, contributed significantly to give it a new face. Those who still think Lisbon, with its white houses clinging to the hills will be surprised. The facades have adopted pastel and ocher colors. Modern buildings were also high.
