Photographer's Note

You could see the belltower (1733) of Coimbra University in my previous upload form this town. It can be seen from all over the city. This photograph presents some other splendid pieces of architecture of the oldest university in Portugal. For example, the building on the left side belongs to Biblioteca Joanina. Named after its benefactor, Joao V, the library was built in the early 18th century. Its rooms rich in gilt and exotic wood are lined with 300,000 books.

Originally I thought about being chronological in my uploads from Portugal trip, but I decided first to give you a preview of the places I visited and now I am coming back to show some more shots.
