Photographer's Note

1947 - The first men to enter the cave and threw thick ropes, the wrist, went down to a small gallery. Advancing two hundred feet, we found that as a window on a cliff. What was there in front, the low light of the gasworks not allowed to see clearly. Something like a large room shrouded in complete darkness, echoed their voices and the noise of stone throwing.

70 Years - With a view to exploiting new tour of the cave, with improved comfort and security is to society that makes their operation from the Great Hall to the main parts of the Grand Gallery. The opening to the public is made on 11 August 1974.
