Photographer's Note

The Palacio de Pena is probably Sintra's major tourist attraction. it's a bizarre concoction of architectural styles and for sure a feast for photographers who like run-down buildings and traces of past opulence.
Sintra is a small village just outside Lisbon, with charming old palaces and extravagant villas (once you see their architecture you will know what I mean by "extravagant")...). signs and traces of their past beauty (and opulence) are still to be found on their walls and gates.
Sintra enjoys a particular (very humid) micro-climate, which often wraps her around with dense fog or clouds but which is also very beneficial for the local vegetation.
