Photographer's Note

The street is an open space, a public space.

Inside it, we have our smaller spaces made by our trajectories, the way we head in different directions, or even in parallel. "Excuse me", we say, and avoid collision, contact, conversation.

Then we have those shiny metallic shells with four rubber feet. Inside them, our space, our music, our smell. Our direction, again no collisions. Hopefully.

And then... sunglasses. We don't really hide behind sunglasses. We can be seen and our movements can be perceived. It is our intent, our attention, that becomes private behind them. Our emotions become obscure. Our gaze is everywhere, because it is nowhere.

Window shades for the skull. Plastic veils for the soul. Never leave home without them...

[By the way, I updated my profile to commemorate the patience and condescension that you, fellow TE members, have shown in taking me to reach one thousand points. Just a number. A milestone, always useful when one likes to find reasons to commemorate and be happy. :-) ]
