Photographer's Note
Rossio's square.
"Calçada Portuguesa" is the name of these granite and limestone stones manually placed on the ground, one by one, in the old, traditional fashion.
Some areas, specially in the historical center of Lisbon, have some Calçadas with some beautiful, elaborated patterns and designs.

Ola Isabel,
I got dizzy watching this photo.
Beautiful composition with the monument and people going in different directions. And those curves really mix up my mind in judging if the land is steep or flat, or are those curves real or just a painting. I mean I know the answer to those questins and it still confuses me a lot. Human eye is fooled by some patterns and this one is a perfect example.
All the best, Aleks

Great optical illusion with the waves. Nice that you could get up higher to capture the effect. Also great that you included some people to break the repetitive pattern, and a lovely statue on the left. Overall good work!
All the best,
Gerd

This is a beautiful place to photograph, and in deed you have captured a beautiful scene.

Thank you for posting this.

ola isabel, its one of those pics that i say "i'd love to have them in my portfolio"... it is such an endless beauty of this image, such geometrically "independent"; i like literally everything about it - the tiny tilt, the "bold" contrast and sharpening... everything
best wishes, jerzy

Hi Isabel,
very good, nice graphical shot.
In my opinion could be improved with a closer view, without the statue on the left.
Good title, too ! ;-)
Well done

wow, what a great, graphical shot... I am dizzy from looking at it... but I want to look long, maybe a sailboat or messiah will appear if I stare at it for a long time :) but really, a wonderful composition, great job with the statue in there, coming in at just the right place. well done.

Ola Isabel,
A composiçao ficou optima.
Bom trabalho!!!!

Excellent optical illusion for sure! Even the shadows seem to bend on these waves. The people add interest to this highly graphical shot. Super!

Paco
