Photographer's Note

Taken in one of the narrow alleys of the Lisbon Alfama district. Walking around among the mazelike strees in Alfama is just amazing and there is so much atmosphere! Even though many of the houses are in quite bad condition one gets the feeling of a crumbling beauty, not much unlike Havana, but on a different scale of course.

There is laundry hanging everywhere from the windows and on lines criss-crossing the alleys, but I fell for the way this sheet caught the evening sun.

The image was cropped, to focus more on the hanging clothes than the walls, and converted to B&W using Digital Photo Professional. I also adjusted the contrast slightly.
