Photographer's Note

Arco da Rua Augusta offers a passage between the impressive square, Praça do Comércio, and the lovely pedestrianized street, Rua Augusta, which I presented in the previous photo.
When I visited Lisbon, Praça do Comércio (behind my back here) was under construction, so sad for me because this is probably the most postcard like spot in the Portuguese capital. Hence, while taking this photo I had to stand very close to the arch. The additional challenge was the lighting difference between the arch itself and the street behind. It was very hard to balance.

Hi Mariusz,

Being close to the arch results in an impressive view that emphasises its height and grandeur. The exposure has worked well despite the difficult conditions. Beautiful deep blue sky and golden colours.

Hi Mariusz,this time no ghosts in the street, and a new magnificent pic from Lisboa,bright blue hour with the usual top quality,very well done. About Gambia, this country is very similar to Senegal and it's in fact real Africa, now Capeverde i think it's a fake Africa like Sharm el Sheik or other places born only for tourists. Hello Mariusz,
Truly a splendid picture that I suspect was very difficult to realize.
Great view upwards and we also see the ceiling inside the arch as well as the statues on top and the different architectural decorations. Also the golden lights of Rua Augusta.
Too bad Praça do Comércio was under construction. I wouldn't say it's the most postcard like spot of Lisbon but it's very nice and if I remember well from there you also have a good view of Castelo de São Jorge on the hill.
On Praça do Comércio many tourists want to take a picture of the Arco da Rua Augusta while some of the typical trams pass by.

Hello Mariusz,

Under difficult conditions, I think this is a great success. Your chosen viewpoint means that we get amazing views of the arch, both from the front and underneath. It creates a sense of wonderful grandeur, especially when shown against this deep blue sky.
All this, and I haven't yet mentioned the golden steps or golden vista.

Hello Mariusz, I think that you did a wonderful job of capturing the arch and the entrance to the city.
The view for me is enhanced by the fact that it was 'blue hour', the colours and details are excellent.
